# Australia Company Data – Place of Birth

> Australian director place of birth is now returned in a dedicated placeOfBirth object. The nationality field will continue to carry the same value for a transition period before being deprecated for Australia.

## Overview

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) supplies a director's place of birth.

We have mapped this information to the `placeOfBirth` object for Australia (ISO code AU). Place of birth is now returned there, as a structured address with an `identifier` and a `fullAddress`.

### Key points

* **New field**: `placeOfBirth` is now returned on each representatives record, carrying the value supplied by ASIC.
* **Structured**: `placeOfBirth` follows the standard address structure, with `identifier` and `fullAddress`.
* **No change to the value**: the data returned is the same registry value.
* **Transition period**: `nationality` will continue to return the same place-of-birth value until December 31st 2026, so existing integrations are not broken by this release.
* **Deprecation**: from December 31st 2026, `nationality` will no longer be populated for Australia. Move any dependency to `placeOfBirth` before that date.

## Enhanced Profile

`placeOfBirth` is added to each representatives record. `nationality` is unchanged for now.

### Key changes

* `placeOfBirth` added, carrying the place of birth supplied by ASIC as a structured address object.
* `nationality` continues to return the same value during the transition period.

## Deprecation of nationality for Australia

What this means for your integration:

* Read place of birth from `placeOfBirth.fullAddress`.
* Stop treating `nationality` as a nationality value for Australia.
* Expect `nationality` to be absent from Australian representatives records after December 31st 2026.

This change applies to Australia only. `nationality` is unaffected in other jurisdictions.
